29 faces Continued!
It has been forever, I am aware. In Feb, I joined in on 29 Faces, but an awesome sauce trip to NY stopped me in my tracks. When I got home, I worked a little more, but never completed the month. Here are some more of my faces. Scroll down to see the ones I did in the beginning!
ok, a couple are not full faces, but practice is practice you know!
Um, my fav zombie girl so far! I love how her mouth is slightly open. Hungry!
this last one is really a paint over collage...a mag pic. This journal page is not done yet, but loving it! S

One Week in Faces
Week one. 29 Faces.
Day Two was influenced my Tam, from Willowing!
This purple little devil was inspired by a great tattoo artist Sandi Calisto. I love her work, and never want to attempt to be something I'm not, but since this is a challenge I decided to give it a go. I do Sandi no justice, but that's why she is who she is and I am who I am. So there. No biggie.
and here is day one again... already posted, but here is the week together! http://sandicalistroart.com
I tried to work a little differently each day. Clearly, I don't always have time for much. I am eager to stretch this further and further. I am suppose to go to NY this Sunday, and plan to just sketch, however, with the storm, I guess we'll see...
Enjoying this challenge. Find out about it here 29 Faces
and a little Paint Party Friday too!
Happy Artful Week! Fingers Crossed I'll be drawing faces in New York!
so just a bit of happy news. I found out that I am going to have my work in two magazines coming out soon. I already shared my news about the Portland book in a couple posts below, but I am getting another piece published in Somerset Gallery too! Giddy meeeee! yay!!! I am seriously so stoked I obviously cannot keep it in. And here she is... well, here I am... Bird on My Head

29 Faces
I'm doing this!
Feb 1, Day 1
Many bloggers know of the 29 Faces Challenge which started last Feb, a leap year. The challenge is to draw or paint, or whatever... a face a day for the month of Feb. Well the challenge took off and I think it is now in it's fourth round. I've never joined in, until now. On a whim, I decided to participate and my goal is simply practice and to help find my style a bit more. I will challenge myself to some profiles and such as well.
This is my face from yesterday, Feb 1, Day 1.
Now, I get responses often about my faces being so sad. Don't you worry about me. I am really drawn to sad faces, and also find myself painting my characters a bit dark, but not always! I don't really know why. I suppose we are always looking to let out our inner sadness, and I feel there is always more of a story to be heard. I do have a tendency to get a little darker, a little deeper, but that's just me, so there you go!
Don't think I can blog these everyday, and I'm soon off on a trip to NY, so I'll do my best. I plan on pencil sketching my faces while in the city.

Painting on Wood
Since I've been MIA for so long, I thought I'd do a post of a couple pieces I did before Christmas. My mother recently had a new deck built, and as the men were throwing wood in the garbage, my mom was digging them out for me to art with! Good mom!
So, I started doing some paintings on wood.
and here she is finished. This was a painting for an artist friend of mine. I actually forgot to take real pics with my real camera. I think I should. This lady came out perfectly and I hold her close. I miss her, but I think she is happy in her new home.
and then, Zombie girl!
I love this second stage...
I was loving the love out of her until I kept going and ...
now I just don't know what to do with her!
or her...

I love this second stage...
Hubs really liked her, so we're keeping her around. Do you love the Zombie craze? The Walking Dead is seriously the best show I've ever seen! I finally got the THE episode in this season the other night, and cry my heart out, I did! Ugh. Tore me up!
and a couple more I started on wood, but have yet to finish.

Happy Paint Party Friday!

BBFFs at Art and Soul, Portland.
A long, loooong, overdue post.
Miss Kristin, Twinkle Twinkle had a little plan... and so we went on an adventure.
We met.
We had a gorgeous view.
We went to art classes.
We were silly.
and we had our time together as new BBFFs! (Blog Best Friends Forever!)
I am so honored to have this book published in the spring Somerset Memories. Many of these pages are included, and a couple I didn't show!
And two of my paintings from a day with Mindy Lacefield.
oh, and for my ink followers, I got new feathers! Fly Mama Birdie, fly.
linking up to PPF!
