Summer of Color, week 5, and still behind!

hehe.  I am finding it difficult to keep up, as always.  The colors for the week, a combo of blue, purple, and pink, didn't really work for me.  I envisioned something so different, like using mostly a black and white palate with touches of these colors, but I start painting and just go a-color crazy lady!

My piece went through so many stages, wiped out, and worked all new all over again.  The way it goes sometimes.  I still found myself struggling and so I just let it be.  I painted away, and when I was done, I was done and that is the end to my tale!

and this is when Mister Hubs says the profile face looks like a man...and I just gave up on this idea.

Started over completely.  Faces missing something of me, I think... so,

I played some more!

and added glitter

Happy Summer Days!  One more week for Summer of Color, and then off on new adventures!

  1. I LOVE how it turned out! Love the way the pink pops and things always look goooood with a little bling. ;) This saying is so true too. As a somewhat over protective Mama Bear...I need to remember to let my "Littles" spread their wings as much as possible. :) Hope you have a fab week. xxoo

  2. I love the way this piece turned out. The mamma hugging her child is such a powerful image. I'm struggling with giving my daughter wings as she goes off to college. I want to be there to protect her always, but I know I need to let her live on her own. Thanks for the reminder.

  3. I love how it looks, it is very you, with all of the popping colors and swiryness. I think it is really difficult when someone says something to me about my art work (usually my hub) he doesn't mean it as a criticism, that is how I take it and I swear it totally deflates me. Then I want to just wipe it all out and start again, but with less air in my bubble and less enthusiasm. It truly does make me feel insecure. I think being an artist is difficult, because we do tend to take things sooo personally....well at least I do...ha! NO matter what you create, it is beautiful, it comes from you and your amazing spirit, which definitely shines through. I love it!
Hope you are having a lovely day! :)

  4. Mark is never enthusiastic about my stuff. "looks good" is all I get. Looks good, ok, thanks. Maybe that's better than the truth? :P
Was there pink in wild and reckless? That would've made it easier for me!

  5. I love the transformation! That is one of my favorite quotes, too.

Glitter is always a good choice!

  7. I thought the first one was beautiful (and it didn't appear man-ish to me) but I love the second one too.

  8. I bet you can still turn that first one into magic if you keep working with it, but I SO love your final piece. The words are perfect for your image, it's so sweet!!
