Sh$ts and Giggles, a Charity Event!

So, you wanna know a little story?  I was at having a talk with my new tattoo dude, about my upcoming session of course, and we got to talking and stuff and I started talking a little photography and a little art.  Well, they, the shop, are putting on a charity auction at a local bar and all the artists there, and some others, were all painting toilet seat lids.  And...excited excited me... he asked if I wanted to paint on for the event. (I actually knew of this event from my previous visit, but I truly did not think I would get to participate.  I certainly wasn't going to offer.  Some of these artists are so wickedly talented...and then there is little me!)  So... Uh, yes!!!  I was giddy crazy with excitement and ran to home depot to buy a toilet lid.  On the way I called Twinkle Twinkle to express extreme delight, and then off I went to work.  Being a mother of three girls and being summer, time has been limited lately, but stay up each night, way too late, I did! And then there was that moment when she was finished.  I love her now and I am excited and really hoping someone buys her in the auction.

So happy day, right?  The event is next Friday night, which also means I have an excuse to have an outing.  Fingers crossed I can find a sitter!

Now, I did deliver her last weekend when I went in for my session.  The response was awesome sauce.  I was a tad nervous, given the talent in this shop, but I did it and they loved it...at least I really feel they did.  No other toilet lid looked like mine...so woot!

This is me.  I am not revealing what is about to go down on my back.  I think I'll wait a couple weeks and make you lovelies crazy!

  4. How fun is this! It looks great on the old wood of the fence too. Be nice if you could find some to add to the seat as a frame of sorts.

  8. what a great story!! I love when events leads to other events in a totally serendipitous way - go cosmos!! (I'm reading a book about cosmic ordering just now and am finding happy coincidences everywhere!) Also love it when I meet another lady who loves body art! I'm in the middle of deciding on my next two tattoos just now - mine are all little ones - I'd love to get my whole back done but I think I'd need a lottery win first!

Your toilet seat lid is fantastic - I laughed when I saw what it actually was as the first couple of photos don't give it away! I think she's adorable and somebody will definitely buy her - I think the whole painted toilet seat auction is a briliant idea! Hope you have a ball at the event on Friday!

  35. I am wondering what kind of paint to use on a toilet seat cover! Honestly I wouldn't know where to start if I had to decorate one! But you did a fantastic job and the person who buys it will have an awesome toilet, except of course there will always be eyes staring up at you! and her mouth seems to be ooohing too! Well one totally not boring toilet coming up! Patsy from

  36. That's a gorgeous lid! So exciting!

If you're willing to spend a bit, I have had HUGE amounts of success finding a sitter through sittercity.com - you have to pay for an account, but I posted my babysitting needs and had six great candidates in two days. They have a section for getting sitters on short notice, too.
